About "WatchMoviesNot":

WatchMoviesNot is a project founded in 2019. Partly derived from local slang,"WatchMoviesNot" was insipired by their observation that the local community hardly watched movies or made film appreciation part of their lives.

WatchMoviesNot curate film festivals, write film reviews, create publications and organized campus visits to popularise film culture locally.

About WMNFF:

WMNFF started from August 26 to September 1.Besides the film screenings, a Short-film Marathon has been added this year, inviting film festivals and institutions on the island of Borneo to participate in open-air screenings. Stage Performance and Pop Up Store are co-organized by MICROWAVE, bringing together many local arts and creative industry workers to celebrate the annual film festival at Robert's Wooden House by the Rajang River!

About the location
(Robert Wooden House) :

If wasn't for this film festival, I don't think I would know Sibu had such a place, a place full of culture vibes. Walk up to the exhibition area on the second floor, seeing this brochure about RobertWooden House, and being in that space, I was really so shocked.

Do u ever have this feeling before? Imagine that, the land u stepping now, decades ago those ancient people standing here too. Although time has passed and the land/environment has changed, the stories which passed on by future generations really need to be focused on. Last time when I had this feeling was at Chikan Tower,Tainan and this time was in my hometown (touched.)

What makes me come:

YOUTH AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN_by_Cheryl Lisa

Outline:A girl talks about the value of enjoying her youth as she reminisces about her younger days and receives pieces of advice from her loved ones as she enters her 20s.

This was the film that made me decide to go home and watch this film festival in this summer break. Next would be the Sarawak Shorts. It's quite funny to said that, although I'm a Sarawakian but actually i don't know Sarawak very well. I began to have my own independent/critical thinking ability while studying abroad. But there's the point,I'm leaving home!!! so it's quite difficult to have a better understanding of the land where I have lived for more than ten years. Therefore, this film is like giving me a chance to visit home and learn more about this unfamiliar hometown.

Watched Sarawak Shorts that day. SarawakShorts is aprojam that WatchMoviesNot has been focusing on. There are many Sarawakians striving locally or abroad, working towards their passion despite the challenges. WatchMoviesNot hoped to focus on local filmmakers in this program. The most impressive films that i'd watches that day are "THE BIN", "THE HOUSE OF BRICK AND STONE" and "MY HOME". Friends who are familiar with me should know that I am a sentimental person, and the common points of these films is "family", which is enough for me to be emotional.

MARY IS HAPPY, MARY IS HAPPY.

MARY IS HAPPY, MARY IS HAPPY.

This's a film that need your fully patience n attention. The whole film takes two hours and seven minutes long, and tbh i yawn few times in the middle but the latter part of the film woke me up again. Death really's atopic that really fascinates me. During the viewing process, I found that Director Nawapol used every half hour to tell a story, and also used the month to distinguish the story of each units. Feel like I actually watched four small units of short film. After the movie ended, I couldn't forget those golden words:

「Nothing's certain. Things happen quickly and without reason.」

「I'm bitten by the lazy bug. Can i have a hug? I read in a health manual,

hugging is a form of exercise.」

「It's worth waiting for magic hour.」

(the magic hour at WMNFF)

i'm really an introvert:)

First day going to the festival, saw lots familiar faces. They're friend's of a friend of a friend. Don't know them very well, but I've heard the name and know the appearance of those people, but I really dare not take the initiative to say hello. Therefore, I went to the film festival for three days without any communication with the team (this should be the only regret point). I even dare to take a camera at the scene to film vlog, (even some people say hi to my vlog, link here 12:49), but I do not dare to take the initiative to say hi.
